Rep. Jason Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 8th district, recently shared his views on several topics through a series of tweets. The congressman has been active in politics since replacing Jo Ann Emerson in 2013 and has a background that includes service in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013.

In a tweet posted on February 6, 2025, Smith expressed concern over a proposed banking surveillance scheme. He stated: "They sought a new banking surveillance scheme to monitor your every financial transaction (they still support it), and empowered the IRS to look at your every Venmo transaction, whether you're selling concert tickets or a used couch."

On the same day, Smith criticized Democrats for their plans concerning the Internal Revenue Service. He tweeted: "Rather than accept the facts and hold the agency accountable, Democrats then announced a plan to supercharge the agency with $80 billion in new funding and 87,000 new agents to squeeze the middle class."

Later that day, Smith congratulated Doug Collins on his confirmation as Secretary of Veterans Affairs. He remarked: "Congratulations to my friend and former colleague @RepDougCollins on being confirmed as the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. I look forward to working alongside Secretary Collins to improve the services provided by the VA and ensure our nation’s heroes are taken care of!"
