Rep. Jason Smith, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri's 8th district since 2013, recently shared his thoughts on significant legislative developments via social media. Born in St. Louis in 1980 and residing in Salem, Smith has been an active member of Congress following his tenure in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013.

On June 3, 2025, Rep. Smith highlighted "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill prevents Americans from seeing the largest tax hike in American history, cuts $1.6 trillion in spending, and delivers resources for President Trump to secure the border." He warned that voting against this bill would result in increased taxes without any reduction in spending.

Later that day, Smith emphasized the fiscal impact of the legislation by stating "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill cuts $1.6 trillion in mandatory spending." He noted it as the most substantial spending cut in U.S. history and credited the Ways and Means Committee with eliminating $1 trillion through adjustments to what he described as ineffective tax policies.

In another post on June 3rd, Smith congratulated Billy Long on his advancement towards becoming IRS Commissioner. "Congratulations to my former House colleague and friend," he wrote while expressing eagerness to collaborate with Long to enhance transparency within the IRS.
