Rep. Jason Smith, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Missouri's 8th district, recently shared his views on several matters through a series of tweets. Smith, who has served in Congress since 2013 after replacing Jo Ann Emerson, addressed topics ranging from tax policy to police appreciation.
On May 15, 2025, Smith commented on economic policies under former President Trump. He stated that "Under President Trump, America is back open for business. Our tax code should reflect that." He highlighted the "One, Big, Beautiful Bill," which aims to support pro-manufacturing policies by rewarding new factories built in America and doubling immediate small business expensing.
In another tweet on the same day, Smith emphasized his commitment to completing legislative work alongside his Republican colleagues. He noted their extensive efforts by stating "Where I come from, you don’t stop working until the job is done." This remark followed nearly 18 hours spent countering Democratic attempts to obstruct the passage of the One, Big, Beautiful Bill.
Additionally, as National Police Week concluded on May 15th, Smith expressed gratitude towards law enforcement officers nationwide for their service. He conveyed his appreciation by saying "As we close out National Police Week, I want to thank all of the police officers across our nation that keep our communities safe!"
Smith was born in St Louis in 1980 and currently resides in Salem. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri and a Juris Doctor degree from Oklahoma City University.
