Rep. Jason Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 8th district, has taken to social media to discuss "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill," a legislative initiative that aligns with President Trump's economic promises. Smith has been in Congress since 2013 after replacing Jo Ann Emerson and previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013.

On May 13, 2025, Smith tweeted about the bill's focus on aiding working-class Americans by stating "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill delivers for working class Americans." He emphasized that it provides certainty for small businesses, cuts taxes for workers, and offers relief to seniors as promised by President Trump.

Later that day, he elaborated on the bill's objectives in another tweet posted at 14:20 UTC. He described it as "pro-growth, pro-family, pro-worker, and pro-farmer." The legislation aims to cement the tax cuts introduced in 2017 under President Trump while offering further tax relief and aligning with Trump's tax priorities.

In a subsequent tweet at 15:47 UTC on the same day, Smith detailed how the bill intends to deliver President Trump's tax agenda. According to his post "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill delivers President Trump’s tax agenda by…" including cementing the 2017 tax cuts, ending taxes on tips and overtime work, providing tax relief for seniors, and incentivizing American manufacturing.

Jason Smith was born in St Louis in 1980 and resides in Salem. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2001 and obtained a Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University in 2004.
