On May 5, Rep. Jason Smith tweeted about the stance of House Republicans against potential tax increases. He stated, "House Republicans will not allow the largest tax hike in American history to happen under our watch." Later that day, Smith highlighted the focus of House Republicans on revising tax policies. In his tweet, he mentioned, "ICYMI: House Republicans are focused on replacing bad tax policy with GOOD tax policy to help working Americans and deliver on President Trump's priorities." The tweet also listed specific measures such as no taxes on tips or overtime and providing tax relief for seniors.
On May 6, Smith addressed support for Jewish college students during President Trump's administration. He noted in his tweet that "Under President Trump, Jewish college students have an ally." He acknowledged actions taken by the Trump Administration to combat antisemitism on college campuses across the nation.
