Rep. Jason Smith, a congressman representing Missouri’s 8th district, made a series of announcements on social media concerning recent developments and policy implementations. Smith, who has been serving in Congress since 2013, conveyed a strong stance on trade and immigration matters in the United States.

Addressing American economic interests, Rep. Smith declared, "WEDNESDAY IS LIBERATION DAY! For too long, American workers and manufacturers have been ripped off by our trading partners. President Trump is delivering on his promise to take bold action to protect America’s domestic manufacturers, secure our supply chains, and hold our". This statement, posted on March 31, 2025, highlights the administration's plans to bolster domestic manufacturing by renegotiating trade relationships.

On April 1, 2025, Rep. Smith turned his attention towards immigration, mentioning significant reductions in migrant entries at the southern border. He stated, "At this time last year, areas along our southern border were overwhelmed with illegal immigrants, with facilities swamped with nearly 1,200 migrants a day. That number has now plummeted to 30-40 a day. Promises made, promises kept." This post credits a sharp decline in the number of migrants to policy changes made by the current administration.

Continuing with trade issues, Smith proclaimed on April 1, 2025, that American agriculture faces unfair practices from international counterparts, saying, "For too long, our trading partners have gotten away with discriminating against American farmers and producers. Unlike the last Administration, President Trump will not stand by and allow this to happen. Tomorrow, he is taking much needed action to correct course and defend". This comment suggests impending measures to support and protect U.S. agricultural interests.
