On March 24, 2025, Smith tweeted about the impact of severe storms in Howell County, stating "In Howell County, the severe storms caused 17 injuries, destroyed dozens of buildings, and damaged several major farms." He mentioned that after surveying the damage with Commissioner Ralph Riggs, he received a briefing from West Plains Mayor Mike Topliff and other local officials.

The following day on March 25, 2025, Smith shared his participation in a meeting with Secretary Kennedy to discuss health initiatives alongside the Trump Administration.
