Rep. Jason Smith, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Missouri's 8th district, has recently shared updates on severe weather events and political matters via social media. Known for his active engagement with constituents, Smith replaced Jo Ann Emerson in 2013 and has served since then.

On March 15, 2025, Rep. Jason Smith reported the devastating impact of severe weather across southeast and south-central Missouri. "Many homes and businesses were damaged or outright destroyed by the severe weather that hit communities across southeast and south-central Missouri. Tragically, initial reports say that at least 10 individuals lost their lives." He urged prayers for the victims of this calamity.

Two days later, on March 17, 2025, Smith provided further details about the extent of destruction caused by deadly storms in Missouri's 8th Congressional District. "Deadly storms left a path of destruction across more than 20 counties in the 8th Congressional District. At least 12 people tragically lost their lives." The damage included thousands of buildings such as homes, businesses, schools, and farms.

In another post on March 17, 2025, Smith commented on national politics and fiscal policy following recent elections. "Last November, Americans spoke loud and clear in favor of President Trump’s pledge to reject the status quo and cut government waste." He expressed support for measures aimed at reducing government spending.
