Rep. Jason Smith, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 8th district since 2013, shared his views on various policies via social media posts in early March 2025. Smith, born in St Louis and a graduate of the University of Missouri and Oklahoma City University, has been an advocate for President Trump's policies during his tenure.
On March 3, 2025, Rep. Jason Smith expressed support for President Trump’s border policies through a tweet stating that "Americans overwhelmingly support President Trump’s aggressive border policies." He highlighted that enforcing national laws under Trump's administration was reducing violence and ensuring resources were directed to American citizens rather than illegal aliens.
Later on the same day, March 3, he addressed tax policy by tweeting about Congress's efforts to build on Trump's 2017 tax cuts. According to Smith's post "As Congress moves to build on President Trump’s historic 2017 tax cuts," he emphasized that these cuts benefited working families and noted that federal tax rates for the bottom 20% of earners had reached their lowest level in four decades.
The following day, March 4, Rep. Smith turned his attention to international trade issues. In another tweet "The previous administration allowed other countries to walk all over American businesses," he criticized past administrations for allowing discriminatory practices against American exports. He commended President Trump for defending America's interests against such unfair barriers.
