On December 10, Rep. Jason Smith criticized the Democratic Party's stance on border security. He stated that "Democrats have only pretended to care about border security when it became so obvious how much of a failure their policies have been." Furthermore, he claimed that Democrats are now opposing all of President Trump's border security measures.
Later that day, Smith addressed economic concerns related to small businesses. He tweeted that "If we want the get the economy back on track, Congress needs to give small business owners the assurance and certainty that the Trump tax cuts will be extended so they can grow and hire." He noted that American small businesses have lost 31,000 jobs since September.
On December 11, Rep. Jason Smith announced his upcoming appearance on a television program with Maria Bartiromo to discuss efforts by House Republicans to extend Trump tax cuts.
