Rep. Jason Smith, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 8th district, recently shared updates on legislative efforts via social media. The tweets focused on healthcare initiatives led by the Ways and Means Committee, as well as his engagements with rural hospitals.

On November 21, 2024, Rep. Smith highlighted the committee's achievements in expanding telehealth services for seniors. He stated, "This year, the Ways and Means Committee led the way on expanding access to healthcare at home by passing a telehealth package to ensure seniors receive access to quality healthcare, whether they are at home or at a hospital."

In another post from the same day, he addressed actions taken against proposed federal regulations affecting nursing homes. He noted that "The Ways and Means Committee has led the charge to block the Biden-Harris Administration’s harmful nursing home staffing mandate that would’ve jeopardized access to care for almost 300,000 rural Americans."

Additionally, Rep. Smith mentioned his visits to rural hospitals across the country in his third tweet from November 21, 2024. He expressed his commitment to supporting these institutions by stating: "I’ve also had the opportunity to visit various rural hospitals across the country where I’ve discussed with providers and patients how Congress can better support rural hospitals to address the problems they face."
